Proudly Local, Properly Done
Local, experienced, and committed to doing homekill the right way.
About BT Meats
Founded in 2020, BT Meats was built on a simple belief: homekill should be done properly - with skill, care, and complete transparency.
With over 15 years’ industry experience behind the knives, we oversee every step from paddock to package. Our focus is straightforward - quality processing, fair service, and respect for both the animal and the client. Every beast, every catch, every hunt has a story behind it, and we honour that.
We proudly serve farmers, lifestyle block owners, hunters, and fishermen across the Waikato. Whether it’s years of careful stock management or a hard-earned hunting trip, we understand what your meat means to you - and we treat it accordingly.
At BT Meats, professionalism and personal service go hand in hand.
Meet James & Bree
BT Meats is owned and operated by James and Bree - lifelong locals with strong rural roots and a genuine passion for the industry.
James began his career in homekill processing before gaining experience in meat works and retail butchery. He qualified as a butcher in 2021 after winning Apprentice of the Year in 2020. During his retail career, he competed nationally and won the Waikato Regional Butchery Competition twice. James is passionate about flavour, innovation, and getting the absolute best from every cut - backed by deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience across the trade.
Bree’s path into the industry started in early childhood education and later truck driving, before joining James to build their family business together. She has a sharp eye for presentation, takes pride in every finished product, and is committed to maintaining a spotless, efficient workspace where quality and cleanliness are non-negotiable.
Both James and Bree have been part of the Te Awamutu and Te Kawa communities for decades. They’re proud of their rural upbringing, value straight-up service, and believe that hard work, honesty, and a good sense of humour are still the best way to do business.
